Peter MutieFounder and Executive Chairman of PICL.

Peter Mutie is a Communication specialist with experience spanning over two decades. He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of PICL.

He is also an Executive Director with Ocean Communications Limited, a sister company to PICL providing integrated communication services to blue chip organisations.  Peter holds several portfolios in both professional and corporate leadership.

He is the President of Africa Public Relations Association (APRA), the continental body for communications professionals. Peter is also a Director with Communications Authority of Kenya and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.

Peter is the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Film Commission, a founder Board Member of BrandKenya Board, Media Council of Kenya, and former Chairman of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

In his distinguished career, he has served in Public Relations and Strategic Communication at KenGen, East African Development Bank, National AIDS Control Council, among other organisations. He is serving in a number of other roles in Consultancy at both continental and global level besides being a consultant with the UN on Strategic Communication.

Peter is a Senior Member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), APRA and PRSK. He has spoken in many PR and Strategic Communication conferences globally including International Public Relations Association conventions, APRA conferences, Eastern Africa PR Association, among others. He has also published Strategic Communications articles in various journals and magazines.

Peter has received various awards, key among them The Order of Arts and Letters by France and decorated with the medal of Chevalier of The Order of Arts and Letters. This honorary award recognizes the distinguished services rendered to the improvement of the cultural cooperation between France and Kenya. The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) is an Order of France, established on 2 May 1957 by the Minister of Culture, and its supplementary status to the ‘Ordre national du Mérite’ was confirmed by President Charles de Gaulle in 1963. Its purpose is the recognition of significant contributions to the arts and literature, or the propagation of these fields.

Besides being a Fellow of PRSK, Peter is also a recipient of PRSK Golden Honours, the highest and lifetime award that recognizes outstanding achievement in Public Relations in Kenya. He has taught media and strategic communication in a couple of universities in Kenya. His academic credentials include Masters in Business Administration (MBA), BA (Econ), Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, among other postgraduate qualifications.

He has served in a range of dynamic sectors including publishing, media, energy, development banking, health, entertainment and the UN.
